Dipl. Ing. Architect; ARB
Axel has been a Chartered Architect in both the UK and Germany since 1999, and is one of the three founding Directors of m2r-architecture. Having initially trained as a construction worker, he studied architecture at the Universities of Edinburgh and Dresden.
After completing his studies Axel worked as a project architect in Dresden and was in charge of an office building constructed for the Commerzbank. In 1999 he moved back to the UK and worked for Kohn-Pederson-Fox Architects, designing the Bur Juman Centre in Dubai. He was responsible for the design development of the high-rise tower, which will be completed in 2006. In 2000, Axel had the opportunity to work for Foster and Partners and was involved in the design of the £100 million Albion Riverside Apartment building in London and the main Railway Station in Dresden.
m2r was incorporated in 2002 to enable the three founding Directors to pool their individual expertise and creative flair, and collaborate closely on future innovative projects of common interest. This harmonious relationship has resulted in numerous submissions to international design competitions and projects, based upon the collective input of the three leading principals and their support team.
Amongst the project for which Axel is currently carrying out the leading role is a hotel project in Russia and the design of a new world cup ski arena. Axel was lately appointed to represent Germany in the FIS ski jumping committee.
